Construction Crews Hit the Road: Wisconsin Drivers Urged to Stay Alert for Worker Safety

TOMAHAWK, Wis. (WSAW) - The early indications of summertime weather this year have ushered in another season in Wisconsin: construction season. While encountering traffic slowdowns can be frustrating, road workers are asking everyone to remain patient for their own safety as well as theirs.

David Karnes is the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Traffic Systems & Management Chief. He oversees the statewide traffic management center. It helps keep Wisconsin highways safe. His department helps manage traffic incidents and coordinates with local officials on urgent responses.

He knows there’s nothing people can agree on more -- poor road conditions and potholes. We can place the primary blame on Wisconsin winters. The remedy? Road construction.

“One thing about the summer in Wisconsin is work zones are popping up everywhere across the state, right? And construction zones often have lane shifts, reduced speed limits. There can be sudden stops,” said Karnes.

And for drivers who are not paying attention, the consequences are deadly.

Over the past five years, there have been over 10,000 accidents in construction areas, resulting in more than 3,600 injuries and 56 fatalities.

This summer, visitors exploring Northwoods will face significant construction work along Highway 8 in Lincoln County. Crews will repave highway 8 from McCord Road to about County Highway L, replace the railroad crossing, guardrails over the Tomahawk River, add pavement markings at snowmobile crossings, add rumble strips to improve safety for bicyclers and more.

The complete length of the road spans approximately 15 miles. The project is anticipated to be completed by October. In the meantime, Karnes advises motorists to prioritize safety for all.

“It’s everyone’s responsibility to drive safe and make responsible decisions when they’re behind the wheel.”

MLB Roundup: Phillies' Mick Abel Shines in Debut, Outpitching Paul Skenes

In his first Major League game, Mick Abel matched a franchise record by striking out nine batters across six innings at home. The Philadelphia team thus swept the series against Pittsburgh with a narrow 1-0 win.

Abel (1-0), selected as the top pick in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft from Jesuit High School located in Portland, Oregon, distributed five hits during his game. He matched the franchise record for strikeouts by a player making their MLB debut, which was initially set by Curt Simmons—famous with the "Whiz Kids"—on September 28, 1947, versus the New York Giants. In the second inning, he fanned all three batters faced, becoming the inaugural Phillie to register five strikeouts within just the opening two frames of their Major League bow.

In the fifth inning, Philadelphia grabbed a 1-0 advantage as Nick Castellanos started with an infield hit, moved to third base due to a single by Max Kepler, and subsequently scored on a fielder's choice by Brandon Marsh after one out was recorded.

Despite surrendering only three hits and one run across eight innings, Paul Skenes (3-5) took the loss. He issued one walk and recorded nine strikeouts but has dropped to 0-3 in his past four outings since securing a victory on April 25 against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, which ended with a score of 3-0.

Yankees 8, Mets 2

Cody Bellinger smashed a grand slam, concluding a six-run outburst in the eighth inning, which helped the hosting Yankees pull ahead for a win against the Mets in the final game of the Subway Series.

This marked Bellinger's ninth career grand slam and his first since July 15, 2023, when he played for the Chicago Cubs. During this inning, the Yankees took advantage of a throwing error made by Mets' first baseman Pete Alonso. Bellinger had an impressive game, going 3-for-3 with two walks and matching his personal best by bringing home six RBIs. Meanwhile, starter Max Fried limited the Mets to just two runs off three hits over six innings.

In yet another difficult evening at Yankee Stadium, Soto had a tough time, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. His performance brought his batting average down to .246 after he managed only one hit out of ten tries throughout the series. Additionally, Jeff McNeil contributed an RBI single in the third inning when there were two outs, which later led to him scoring due to a wild pitch thrown by Fried.

Astros 4, Rangers 3

Isaac Paredes' three-run homer in the eighth inning made all the difference as Houston staged a comeback to defeat Texas. The two teams from Texas concluded their four-game series with each team winning twice.

Paredes hit a home run against reliever Robert Garcia (1-2), which turned Framber Valdez (3-4) into the winning pitcher after he gave up three runs over seven innings. Josh Hader struck out all three Rangers batters in the ninth inning to secure his 11th save.

Yainer Diaz ended Texas’ Jack Leiter’s no-hitter attempt with a solo homerun with two outs in the seventh inning. Leiter pitched through the eighth inning for the first time in his career; however, Garcia couldn’t maintain a 3-1 lead for Texas.

Nationals 10, Orioles 4

C.J. Abrams launched the game's opening pitch into his first homer as part of scoring two, with visiting Washington ultimately defeating struggling Baltimore 10-4.

Luis Garcia Jr., Dylan Crews, and Josh Bell also went deep for the Nationals, who have now won three consecutive games after their 1-8 slump. This was the first time since last September that they hit five home runs in a single game.

Despite receiving home runs from Cedric Mullins, Gunnar Henderson, and Jackson Holliday across three consecutive innings, Baltimore finished with an 0-6 record at home after dismissing manager Brandon Hyde on Saturday. Over their last 14 contests, the Orioles have suffered defeats in 12 matches.

Braves 10, Red Sox 4

Marcell Ozuna hit a two-run home run and had three RBIs to lead visiting Atlanta to a 10-4 victory over Boston.

The Braves had 16 hits and drew seven walks in the win. Alex Verdugo and Austin Riley each collected three hits for Atlanta, which broke a 4-4 tie by scoring three runs in the fifth. The Braves drew four walks in the inning.

Rafael Devers smacked a grand slam for the Red Sox. This brought his total home runs for the season up to nine, with this being his second in consecutive matches. Both Devers and David Hamilton contributed two hits apiece towards Boston’s tally of eight hits.

Tigers 3, Blue Jays 2

Spencer Torkelson contributed with a double, a single, and three RBIs as the visiting Detroit team triumphed over Toronto with a score of 3-2.

In the seventh inning, Torkelson's run-scoring base hit overcame a 2-2 deadlock. Dillon Dingler recorded three hits, and Riley Greene contributed two more for the Tigers during the decisive game of the trilogy matchup. Right-handed pitcher Jackson Jobe from the Tigers pitched six frames, giving up six hits and two walks along with striking out five batters, but ended up without a decision.

The Tigers have emerged victorious in five out of their last six games. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays have started their nine-game home stand with a record of two wins and four losses.

Reds 3, Guardians 1

Will Benson stayed scorching hot on Sunday afternoon as he hit two home runs, guiding host Cincinnati to a 3-1 victory over Cleveland and completing a sweep of their three-game interleague series.

Benson broke the deadlock with a two-run home run against Luis Ortiz (2-5) in the fourth inning, then extended the lead with a solo shot off Hunter Gaddis in the sixth. The outfielder ended up going 3-for-4 for the game and has now hit homers in four consecutive matches. During this stretch, Benson is maintaining an impressive average of .526 (10 out of 19), including four home runs and driving in 10 runs over six games. This ongoing streak of hitting home runs is currently the longest by a Reds player since TJ Friedl achieved the same feat byhomeringinfourstraightgamesfromSeptember22to26lastyear.

After a 2-9 slump, the Reds have now won four consecutive games and have returned to an even record for the season at 24-24.

Carlos Santana hit an RBI single in the seventh inning for the Guardians, who have now lost four consecutive games following their strong start where they won eight out of their first twelve games in May.

Marlins 5, Rays 1

Otto Lopez hit a three-run home run in his second game back from the injured list, and Cal Quantrill threw a perfect inning with three consecutive strikeouts as Miami beat Tampa Bay 5-1 at home.

Quantrill (3-4) secured the victory after throwing an "immaculate inning" in the fourth frame—nine pitches, all strikes, resulting in three strikeouts. Of these, he recorded four swings for strikes, three calls for strikes, and two fouls. In total, Quantrill fanned six batters, gave up two hits, issued two walks, and conceded one run over five innings of work.

Miami secured victories in two out of the three games in this intra-state rivalry series. This marks the first time since 2018 that Miami has emerged victorious in a series against Tampa Bay.

Brewers 5, Twins 2

Freddy Peralta (5-3) gave up just one run across five strong innings, helping Milwaukee evade a sweep with a 5-2 win against Minnesota, thus ending the Twins' 13-game winning streak.

Zebby Mathews (0-1), who was promoted from Triple-A St. Paul, conceded four runs off five hits over three innings in his first game of the season. The Twins hadn’t lost since their 6-1 loss to Boston on May 2nd.

Isaac Collins and Sal Frelick both brought home two runs apiece for Milwaukee. Trevor Megill, who was the fifth hurler on the mound for the Brewers that day, secured his sixth save.

Royals 2, Cardinals 1

Maikel Garcia drove home the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the seventh inning, helping Kansas City avoid a sweep against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals with a 2-1 win.

The Royals stranded seven players on base against Cardinals pitcher Matthew Liberatore, who performed exceptionally well by conceding only one run, six hits, and one walk across six innings. Nevertheless, Kansas City quickly capitalized on reliever Chris Roycroft (1-3) when they were tied 1-1 during the seventh inning.

The sole run conceded by Royals' starting pitcher Michael Wacha came from Alec Burleson's homer in the fourth inning. Over five innings, Wacha recorded six strikeouts and issued one walk.

This win ended a four-game losing streak for the Royals, as they had previously lost six out of their last seven games. It also temporarily slowed down the Cardinals' momentum, who had been on a winning streak of three consecutive games and 12 out of their last 13.

Cubs 6, White Sox 2

Seiya Suzuki scored two runs, guiding the Chicago Cubs to a complete three-game victory over theChicago White Soxduring their series at home.

Colin Rea threw for 5 1/3 innings with the Cubs, after which reliever Drew Pomeranz (1-0) took over to finish off the sixth. In the bottom part of that inning, the Cubs rallied to score three runs, giving them a 4-1 advantage.

In the game, four Cubs players recorded two hits apiece, with Nico Hoerner notably hitting two doubles. The Chicago Cubs have now won eight successive matches against the White Sox.

Diamondbacks 1, Rockies 0

Ketel Marte homered in the first inning, Merrill Kelly pitched seven scoreless innings and Arizona deprived Colorado of its first series win of the season with a 1-0 victory in Phoenix.

Marte went deep as the second batter of the D-backs' first and Kelly (5-2) gave up only one hit while striking out 11, one short of his career high. Kelly took a no-hitter into the sixth before Rockies' leadoff hitter Jordan Beck grounded a double inside the bag at third on Kelly's 83rd pitch to break it up. Kelly walked three and threw a season-high 109 pitches.

Colorado dropped to 8-38, marking the poorest beginning since 1901. Teams like the 1904 Washington Senators, the 1932 Boston Red Sox, and the 1988 Baltimore Orioles had similarly dismal starts at 9-37.

Giants 3, Athletics 2

Heliot Ramos homered and later drove in the tie-breaking run with a single in the eighth to lift host San Francisco past the visiting Athletics and complete a sweep of the three-game series.

Closer Tyler Ferguson (0-2), who began the eighth inning with the Athletics ahead 2-1, gave up a lead-off triple to pinch hitter LaMonte Wade Jr. Following that, pincher Patrick Bailey contributed an RBI single, followed by a successful sacrifice bunt and another RBI hit from Ramos.

Another impressive performance from Oakland’s southpaw Jeffrey Springs was overshadowed by the team's late-game reversal. Springs conceded just one run and two hits across 6 2/3 frames, fanning five batters while not issuing a single free pass. Despite starting off with giving up a homer to Ramos on his initial offering, he went on to retire 20 consecutive hitters, never facing more than one runner at a time.

Angels 6, Dodgers 4

Travis d'Arnaud secured a lead with a homerun in the eighth inning, leading the visiting Los Angeles Angels to complete a three-game sweep with a 6-4 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Shaun Anderson (1-0) allowed only one run during his 2 2/3 innings of relief work, ultimately closing the game by striking out Shohei Ohtani.

Zack Neto kicked off the game with a home run for the Angels, and Taylor Ward followed up with a two-run homer - his twelfth - three hitters afterward.

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Anthony Banda (3-1) surrendered the d'Arnaud home run — his first of the year — which led to him taking the loss. In the seventh inning, Will Smith tied the game with a three-run homer, bringing the score to 4-4.

Mariners 6, Padres 1

Randy Arozarena hit a home run to kick off a three-run surge, and Bryan Woo pitched impressively for seven innings as the visiting Seattle team swept San Diego with a 6-1 victory, completing their series clean sweep.

Woo (5-1) surrendered only five hits and a run without issuing any walks, striking out five batters. He threw 67 of his 87 pitches for strikes and allowed just one hit across his final 5 1/3 innings pitched. This performance brought his earned run average down to 2.65.

Michael King (4-2) suffered the defeat after giving up six hits and allowing four runs (three earned) over 5 1/3 innings. He issued one walk and struck out eight batters. The first hit against him came when Arozarena hit his sixth home run—a curveball he connected with—with two outs in the fourth inning. This moment sparked a streak where Seattle recorded five consecutive hits, taking the lead permanently thanks to Leody Taveras’ ground-rule double into right field. They extended their advantage to 3-1 following an infield single by Miles Mastrobuoni.

2025 PGA Championship Final Round: Scheffler's Rise and McIlroy's Struggles

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Scottie Scheffler took home the 107th PGA Championship, shooting a final-round 71 to win by five shots. Who else won on Sunday? Who fell short? We call ’em like we see ’em around here. They are:

2025 PGA Championship Day 4 Winners

Scottie Scheffler: Sunday wasn’t a coronation, but righting himself after a shaky front nine was a testament to his fortitude. To go from tied early on the back nine to up six on the final hole was also a reminder that golf hasn’t had a closer like this since in-prime Tiger Woods. On to Oakmont.

Career Grand Slam Hype: Just after Rory McIlroy’s performance at Augusta, Scheffler has now secured two major championships and has the next two lined up for this summer. You might want to grab some popcorn.

Harris English: The veteran made a pile of cash in finishing T2 with a closing 65 (including a five-birdie 31 on the back), his best round in a major. And don’t rule him out for the Ryder Cup team, the 35-year-old won earlier this year and majors award one-and-a-half points per $1,000 won instead of one per $1,000 for regular Tour events. Let's see if he can keep it going at Oakmont.

Davis Riley: After a triple-bogey 8 at the par-5 7th, the Mississippi native was clean the rest of the way with three birdies, climbing into the three-way tie for second for his best major finish. And he also punched a ticket to next year’s Masters.

Keegan Bradley: The U.S. Ryder Cup captain opened with three bogeys in his first seven holes Sunday but showed the kind of mettle he hopes his team has in September, shooting 1-over 72 to finish in the top 10. Chatter around being a playing captain is still alive, and it was a solid showing for several Americans likely to be on his squad.

Joaquin Niemann: We were hard on the Chilean in this space yesterday For ongoing letdowns in majors, however, an impressive 68-shot performance on Sunday propelled him from tied for 31st to tied for eighth — his strongest result in a major so far. This achievement secures his spot in next year’s PGA, which is crucial for someone affiliated with LIV Golf.

2025 PGA Championship Final Round Eliminated Players

Jon Rahm: He managed to catch up with Scheffler early on the latter part of his round, yet several unfortunate breaks along with some errant shots pushed him out of the running. As the sole contender posing a challenge to Scheffler, he faced disappointment as there were no consolation prizes for being second-best on this particular Sunday for the twice-major-winning player.

Bryson DeChambeau: It will be recorded in the books as a T2 finish, however, it turned out to be a rather subdued afternoon considering DeChambeau possesses possibly unmatched power compared to his competitors.

Rory McIlroy: It hadn't been his week, but one might excuse him for experiencing a post-Masters letdown. However, no such leniency is granted for this. skipping out on the media for four straight days When he could have utilized a brief conversation to resolve the backlash surrounding the non-conforming driver he had been compelled to replace earlier in the week.

Max Homa: As much as his Friday 64 seemed to be a turning point In a prolonged effort to regain his form, a disappointing performance over the weekend of July 6-7 left him sharing 60th place. During Sunday’s round, he threw down an iron following a subpar approach shot, clearly showing his irritation.

Joggers: We're not the fashion police, but Alex Noren’s outfit on Sunday appeared rather dowdy for someone aiming for a Wanamaker trophy. Competing in the last group with Scheffler, he scored a 76 and ended up tied for 17th place.

Air Conditioning Mandate for State Prisons Clears Senate

Marlin, TX ( FOX 44 The Texas House has approved a bill mandating that state prisons be equipped with air conditioning.

This legislation mandates that the Texas Department of Criminal Justice must have air conditioning installed across all their facilities by December 2032. They plan to implement these climate-control systems through three stages, with each phase encompassing roughly one-third of the establishments under their jurisdiction.

Specialists indicate that the absence of air conditioning in detention centers presents considerable health and safety hazards for both prisoners and personnel due to the state’s intense heat. During an exclusive conversation solely on Fox44 News, I talked with a former inmate who completed her sentence at Marlin’s Hobby Unit. She mentioned that the summer periods were extremely dangerous without air conditioning.

"I'm on the top floor of this metal structure, and it's incredibly hot up here—reaching temperatures as high as 150 degrees. There are small fans available downstairs, but none for our floor. Even though we're considered criminals, we still have humanity. Yet, they treat us worse than animals... People are suffering; some are even losing their lives," said ex-inmate Vanessa Parker.

The estimated cost for each stage is approximately $100 million, with the initial phase needing completion by December 31, 2028. Phase two should conclude by 2030, followed by all remaining installations being finalized by December 31, 2032.

Max Homa loses his temper, throws club

Max Homa has been feeling increasingly frustrated, as the ex-No. 5 golfer globally has dropped 73 places in the Official World Golf Rankings due to a prolonged period of poor performance. Despite shooting a remarkable 64 on Friday during the PGA Championship, which suggested an improvement in form, his score of 76 on Saturday renewed concerns about his recent slump.

On Sunday, Homa eventually relaxed slightly, resulting in a club mishap leading to a double bogey at the third hole. Still, he deserves an A for trying hard on this one.

Despite being tied for fifth place going into the final day back then, he ultimately finished tied for eighteenth by the competition’s close.

However, Noren simply continues his work. We featured Adam Schupak's article on how Noren's diligent efforts have resulted in notable calluses.

Global Nations Realign Strategies Following China-US Tariff Ceasefire

() -- Supply Lines is a daily bulletin that monitors international commerce. Sign up here .

China’s assertive approach during negotiations for a tariff ceasefire with the U.S. has made several nations believe they should adopt stronger stances in their own trade discussions with the Trump administration.

A week-long truce has provided a framework for the ongoing and challenging negotiations expected between Washington and Beijing. Despite this, China continues to face an effective average U.S. tariff close to 50%, considering both previous duties and the additional 30% rate that was consented to during discussions in Geneva, Switzerland.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump’s readiness to significantly reduce the initial 145% tariff on Chinese goods has taken governments from Seoul to Brussels aback. These administrations had thus far adhered to Washington’s plea for negotiations instead of responding with their own tariffs.

Following China’s aggressive negotiation strategies which secured them a beneficial—even if short-lived—agreement, countries opting for a more conciliatory and swift method are pondering if this is indeed the appropriate course of action.

This alters the negotiation dynamics," stated Stephen Olson, a previous US trade negotiator currently serving as a visiting senior fellow at ISEAS — Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore. " numerous nations will examine the results from the Geneva talks and determine that Trump might be starting to recognize he may have overextended himself.

Left at 10% for now, with potential to increase later. bespoke rates will take effect unless agreements are signed or delays are approved beforehand 90-day suspension ends in July.

Although authorities are hesitant to openly indicate any toughening of their stance, indications suggest that bigger countries are starting to realize they possess greater leverage than initially believed and can consequently afford to decelerate the negotiation process.

The frontrunner of South Korea's presidency, Lee Jae-myung, stated that there is no urgency to quickly reach an initial deal during trade talks with the U.S., and he criticized the current transitional government for allegedly rushing into discussions with the Trump administration.

Last week, nearing the midpoint of the 90-day truce, Trump suggested that there isn't enough time to negotiate deals with roughly 150 nations eager for agreements. Consequently, the U.S. might impose higher tariffs unilaterally within the next two to three weeks.

Although Trump claimed that India was ready to reduce all tariffs on American products, the country’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar informed journalists that trade discussions are still in progress and "it would be hasty to make any conclusions."

India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal was scheduled to arrive in the US over the weekend for further negotiations.

“Many nations can take a lesson from China’s approach when dealing with President Trump: stay strong, keep your cool, and compel him to surrender,” stated Marko Papic, who serves as the chief strategist for GeoMacro at BCA Research.

Japan’s Rethink

Japan’s trade officials are set to travel to Washington later this week. Last week, Japanese Trade Minister Yoji Muto bypassed an adjacent regional conference in South Korea, even though U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer was present there.

Lead negotiator Ryosei Akazawa, heading Japan’s tariff team, mentioned at the start of this month his desire to strike a deal with the US by June. However, according to recent domestic press coverage, a pact seems more probable in July, prior to an upcoming upper house election.

Officials in Tokyo are suggesting they would prefer to proceed cautiously instead of making significant compromises to reach an agreement swiftly.

"We will consider time constraints during discussions, however, we do not intend to compromise our nation's interests by getting too preoccupied with these limitations," stated Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba in parliament on Monday.

The countries involved in discussions with the U.S. are asking themselves, "Why have I been waiting?" as stated by Alicia Garcia Herrero, Chief Economist for Asia-Pacific at Natixis. She explains that this agreement allows China to move ahead of others and does not seem to offer significant advantages for the U.S., making it particularly frustrating.

Even U.S. officials are indicating that negotiations will require more time. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick mentioned that discussions with Japan and South Korea will take time Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated last week that the European Union was plagued by lack of unity that was impeding talks.

"I believe the US and Europe might move somewhat more slowly," Bessent stated during a Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh on Tuesday.

On Sunday, the Treasury Secretary expressed optimism regarding broader discussions, also stating that "the situation did not develop overnight."

"Except for a few cases, the nations have presented excellent proposals for us," Bessent stated during an interview on CNN. State of the Union They aim to reduce their tariffs, decrease their non-tariff barriers, some have been devaluing their currency, and providing subsidies to industries and workers.

EU Skepticism

According to individuals aware of the European Union's talks, officials in Brussels perceived the U.S.-China tariff announcements as maintaining high duties and offering minimal concessions across various areas.

The modest negotiating achievements for the U.S. and the absence of a definite conclusion during the 90-day extension reveal how restrained Trump’s desire is to continually increase pressure on Beijing, according to sources who spoke anonymously due to confidential discussions.

The trading environment is increasingly splintering," stated Valdis Dombrovkis, the European Commissioner for Economic Affairs, adding, "The agreements reached up until now do not fully resolve this issue. interview in London on Thursday, concerning the ceasefire of tariffs with China and a UK-US outline from a deal announced just days before.

In Latin America, where growing economies aim to maintain both Chinese financial support and their ability to export goods to the U.S. market, leaders are attempting to navigate a delicate balance as these major powers confront each other.

Visiting Beijing

The Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who had earlier stated negotiation occurred prior to any retaliation, on Wednesday brushed off worried that strengthening relations with China might lead to a adverse reaction from the US following his state visit to Beijing, where he signed over 30 accords.

President Gustavo Petro of Colombia, who was also visiting Beijing recently, signed on to China’s Belt and Road initiative in a bid to boost trade and investment for his country, even as his top diplomat stressed the US remains the nation’s main ally.

This agreement between the US and China might demonstrate to countries that even the Trump administration can be influenced by the domestic economic challenges resulting from tariffs.

"The economic distress is felt more quickly and widely across the U.S., and this agreement shows that the Trump administration recognizes this," stated Robert Subbaraman, who leads global market research at Nomura Holdings Inc.

However, only those countries possessing significant economic power and minimal dependence on trade with the U.S. might have the ability to take such action, asserts Bert Hofman, a professor at the National University of Singapore and a previous World Bank country director for China. "For most nations, being stern with the U.S. poses considerable risks," Hofman stated over the telephone.

A clear instance of this is Canada, as stated by Oxford Economics last week, which noted that the country had effectively suspended Nearly all of its duties on American products have been removed. However, over the weekend, Canada’s Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne contradicted this claim, stating that the government maintained 25% counter-tariffs on tens of billions of dollars worth of U.S. merchandise.

He mentioned that as per social media, 70% of the counter-tariffs put into effect by Canada in March remain active until now. post On Saturday, the government announced they had "temporarily and publicly halted tariffs" on certain products for health and public safety reasons, according to him.

Nevertheless, since China’s influence endures due to being the global manufacturing hub, other nations might need to employ "more innovative forms of leverage," as Papic suggests.

Lacking Leverage

In the case of Vietnam, approximately one-third of its economy relies on trading with the U.S., which implies that without greater influence, they can only afford to adopt a stern stance in discussions.

Vietnam, one of the initial countries to propose buying more U.S. products like Boeing airplanes to help offset the trade imbalance, slammed Trump's tariffs last week were deemed "unreasonable."

If bigger countries wish to adopt a more adversarial stance, they might find some flexibility in services trade, according to Katrina Ell, who leads the Asia-Pacific economics division at Moody’s Analytics.

Data from Moody’s Analytics indicate that countries like the EU, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan run some of the largest services trade deficits with the U.S.

Given China's significant influence over the U.S., continuing with such a rigid approach isn't feasible," Ell stated via telephone. "It's crucial to remember this aspect of leverage and which country possesses it.

KC Royals' Smart Move: The Obvious Path for Jac Cagliano's Promotion

Following months of anticipation, longing, and hope, Kansas City Royals (and Omaha Storm Chasers) enthusiasts had their desire fulfilled on Sunday night . Jac Caglianone has officially been promoted From the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals to the Triple-A squad. The way the team organized the major league club’s promotion indicates that they had a strategy in place from the beginning—or at least for some time now.

Although fans of "Storm Chasers" are clearly thrilled about witnessing the player with the remarkable .320/.394/.558/.952 batting average in Double-A move up to the next tier to showcase his skills, the local supporters will have to be patient for now. And so it continues. It appears clear that was the case. of why the KC Royals waited so long to promote him.

Jac Caglianone’s AAA debut was impeccably timed by the Royals for lasting influence.

The ex-Florida Gator standout had an impressive showing in May, recording a 1.068 OPS and belting five home runs within just half a month. Despite his powerful performance at bat, the KC Royals did not bring him up. They seemed to be holding off until after his away game debut in Triple-A.

Now that he has received his promotion, he can start this new task without fretting over adjusting to Triple-A pitching as the Omaha supporters go wild for each throw. For an entire week, the Stormchasers will be in Salt Lake competing against the Bees.

His initial home game isn't scheduled until May 27 against the St. Paul Saints. By the time he comes up to bat for the first time at Werner Park, he should already have accumulated around 20 to 30 plate appearances. Despite this, the fans are sure to create a frenzy as soon as he takes his place at the plate.

He'll get an opportunity to adjust to a new team and a higher level of competition. This type of strategic shift demonstrates considerable foresight, even though such planning might not be immediately apparent.

Certainly, some Kansas City Royals supporters might question why he didn't simply move up to the Major Leagues right away, as they have. pondered as he began with an impressive streak In 2025. Nevertheless, his ensuing challenges and adaptations demonstrate that the franchise managed this entire strategy remarkably effectively.

The article was initially published on as The KC Royals' strategy for promoting Jac Caglianone should have been clear from the beginning. .

HonorHealth Research Institute Treats First Patient in Groundbreaking Melanoma Clinical Trial

An average of 212 people in Arizona passed away due to melanoma. Each year from 2018 through 2022, as reported by the Arizona Department of Health Services.

From 2017 to 2022, Arizona witnessed a rise of 7.3% in the incidence rate of new invasive melanoma cases.

In efforts to tackle these figures, the HonorHealth Research Institute has recently initiated an international clinical trial with the enrollment of its first participant. This study aims to evaluate a novel form of treatment designed for melanoma, which is a highly aggressive kind of skin cancer.

It's a tale that resonates particularly now as we anticipate unprecedented temperatures in Arizona this summer.

Many melanomas are caused by excessive sunlight," explained Dr. Justin Moser, who leads the HonorHealth Research Institute's melanoma research efforts. "Living in the desert exposes us to abundant sunshine, and our state offers numerous opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as hiking and mountain biking. This means residents face prolonged periods of direct sunlight.

Melanoma, the most perilous form of skin cancer, originates from pigment-making cells and generally appears on the skin; however, it can exceptionally develop in areas such as the mouth, digestive tract, or eyes. In extremely uncommon instances, this condition might also arise in the lungs.

And sadly, the statistics related to melanoma are quite alarming.

"We have some of the highest melanoma rates in the United States right here in Arizona," stated Moser.

The American Cancer Society predicts that there will be 3,790 new cases of melanoma identified in Arizona this year.

This rate is significantly higher than the national average, making Moser’s research particularly significant.

"I specialize in melanoma and various other types of skin cancer as part of the clinical research team," he stated.

Currently, Moser, who is additionally an associate research professor at ASU’s newly established School of Medicine and Advanced Medical Engineering, is striving towards a significant objective.

"We are truly committed to providing the latest and most effective treatment options to patients in Arizona as swiftly as possible," he stated.

He is currently involved in a clinical trial for a novel form of cell therapy aimed at treating patients suffering from refractory melanoma—a condition where the cancer has not been responsive to conventional treatments.

"... a treatment method involving using a patient's own immune cells and training them to combat the cancer," explained Moser.

The HonorHealth Research Institute has recently initiated treatment for the inaugural participant in an extensive global study spanning 50 sites. This international clinical trial is evaluating a novel form of therapy designed specifically for treating melanoma.

"The hope is that this research yields positive results and leads to the approval of a new treatment for melanoma," he stated.

Moser states that if you happen to develop melanoma and fortunately detect it at an early stage, such as stage one, these cases are highly treatable, with success rates exceeding 95%.

If, however, your level of sunlight exposure leads to developing one melanoma, he warns that you're more likely to be at an increased risk for additional cases of melanoma.

Therefore, as his team carries on with their efforts, he advises others to focus primarily on preventive measures.

"... staying out of direct sunlight, wearing clothes designed for sun protection, using sunscreen regularly, and having routine skin examinations with a dermatologist to ensure that if you develop another skin cancer, it will be detected while it remains highly treatable," explained Moser.

This guidance is beneficial for everyone, particularly as we approach the peak summer months.

If you or anyone you know is dealing with refractory melanoma and seeks additional details about the study, visit their website for further information.

New Jersey Rail Strike Settles: Service Resumes Tuesday

(Adjusts the resumption date of services to Tuesday from Monday in paragraphs 1 and 3, following the correction made by the union in their previous statement)

By Joseph Ax

- New Jersey Transit trains will resume operations on Tuesday following an agreement between the organization and striking rail engineers regarding salary hikes, concluding a strike that impacted roughly 350,000 commuters.

The state-wide rail strike, which marked the first such event for NJ Transit in over four decades, commenced shortly after midnight on Thursday. This left countless commuters heading to New York desperately seeking alternative ways to travel.

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen union, representing 450 NJ Transit engineers responsible for operating the organization’s commuter trains, announced they had struck a deal regarding compensation with the agency on Sunday. They stated their members would go back to work on Tuesday. Earlier, the union had indicated that train services were set to restart on Monday.

The specifics of the arrangement have not been disclosed yet. Members of the union will cast their votes on this pact, following their previous rejection of a similar proposal last month.

"The primary concern was compensation, but we managed to agree on terms that increase hourly wages above the proposal previously turned down by our members last month and higher than what we had before NJ Transit’s management left the negotiating table on Thursday night,” stated Tom Haas, who serves as the union chair for NJ Transit.

The NJ Transit, ranking as the third largest public transportation network in the country, facilitates over 700,000 daily rides on average through its extensive services including trains, light rails, and buses.

Each side accused the other of causing the walkout following the collapse of late-night negotiations on Thursday without reaching an agreement.

Murphy and NJ Transit authorities stated that the organization couldn't financially support meeting the union's salary requests. Meanwhile, the union countered that their aim was merely to align member compensation with that of engineers working for other nearby transit agencies.

The NJ Transit trains remain out of service on Sunday as well. engineer strike It entered its third day as discussions went on with a mediator present at NJ Transit headquarters in Newark.

Last week, both sides met with federal mediators in Washington, D.C., aiming to prevent the strike.

The engineers union, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen They had a meeting lasting around three and a half hours with the president of NJ Transit on Saturday. The BLET union speaks for approximately 400 out of the company’s 12,000 employees. The NJ Transit CEO Kris Kollui stated a press briefing on Saturday morning The agency seeks a reasonable agreement that remains within budget constraints, yet acknowledged that the talks have been productive. Kolluri mentioned that he feels they are approximately 95% towards reaching an accord.

Ex-President Biden Diagnosed With Aggressive Prostate Cancer: A Critical Update

By Joseph Ax and Nandita Bose

() -Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an "aggressive form" of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, his office said in a statement on Sunday.

At 82 years old, Biden received a diagnosis on Friday due to urinary issues. He and his family are currently evaluating various treatment choices alongside medical professionals, as stated in their announcement.

"This indicates a more intense version of the illness; however, the cancer shows sensitivity to hormones, enabling better control strategies," his office stated.

Cancers that have spread, or metastasized, are classified as Stage 4, which is the most progressed phase. Many cases of prostate cancer are identified at a less advanced stage.

As reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, out of the 236,659 instances of prostate cancer identified in 2021, 70% were detected when the cancer was still confined within the prostate gland. Approximately 8% of newly diagnosed cases that same year pertained to advanced stages of the disease.

Biden's physical health and mental acuity drew scrutiny during his 2021-2025 presidency. He abruptly ended his bid for reelection last July, weeks after a halting performance during a debate against Republican Donald Trump prompted panic among his fellow Democrats.

President Trump, who has consistently criticized Biden since assuming office in January, showed empathy on Sunday for both Biden and his wife, Jill, in a message posted on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Malia and I were deeply moved upon learning of Joe Biden's recent health update," he stated, alluding to former First Lady Melania Trump. "Our thoughts go out with warmth and support to both Jill and the entire family, and we sincerely hope for Joe’s swift and complete recuperation.

Biden's office stated that the cancer received a nine out of ten on the Gleason score grading system, utilized to assess the aggressiveness of prostate cancer.

Dr. Herbert Lepor, a urologist at NYU Langone, stated that a score of nine indicates "a very high risk." However, he also mentioned that numerous men can survive for "five to ten years and more" even when dealing with metastatic prostate cancer.

He mentioned that over the past ten years, significant progress has been made in treating advanced prostate cancer.

Dr. Chris George, who serves as the medical director of the cancer program at the Northwestern Health Network, stated that prostate cancer becomes incurable when it reaches the bones; however, he also noted that various treatment options can manage the condition effectively.

BIDEN, TRUMP LARGEST AGE AT PRESIDENTIAL VICTORY seçen صند

Biden was the oldest individual to secure the U.S. presidency when he won the election in 2020 at the age of 77. However, this record was surpassed by Trump, who was 78 years old at the time he ousted Vice President Kamala Harris in the previous year.

Several leading Democrats have recently admitted that pushing Biden as the 2024 presidential candidate was a mistake, considering the significant worries from voters regarding his advanced age. Even prior to the debates held during the previous summer, Ipsos poll data indicated that a majority of Americans, both Democrats included, felt Biden was too elderly to be elected for another term.

“It was an error for the Democrats to ignore the voters’ concerns sooner,” Democratic U.S. Senator Chris Murphy stated during an interview with NBC News' “Meet the Press” on Sunday morning, prior to Biden’s diagnosis being made public.

Biden has kept a low profile since leaving office, making only a handful of public appearances, including an April speech in which he defended the Social Security Administration against Trump's planned cuts.

In interviews, he has also stood up for his legacy and dismissed claims in two recently released books suggesting that he experienced cognitive decline during his final year as president.

He stated previously this month on ABC's 'The View,' 'They have it incorrect,' pointing towards the authors of the books.

Biden's health update led to an influx of supportive remarks on Sunday from both Democrats and Republicans.

"Joe is a warrior — and I am confident he will confront this challenge with the same fortitude, toughness, and positivity that have consistently characterized his existence and guidance," Harris stated in an official release.

In 2015, Joe Biden suffered the loss of his son, Beau Biden, who passed away from brain cancer.

In 2022, Biden reinstated the Obama-era initiative called the Cancer Moonshot with the aim of cutting the mortality rate from cancer by half within the next quarter-century.

PGA Championship 2025: Jon Rahm's Poignant Admission of His Shocking Finish at Quail Hollow

CHARLOTTE — After concluding his remarks inside the interview tent on Sunday at Quail Hollow, Jon Rahm swiftly cast a final look towards a nearby TV screen as he stood up from his seat. Just moments prior, the golfer from Spain had candidly discussed his significant downfall which led him from potentially securing the third major victory needed for a career Grand Slam to ending up merely among those trailing far behind the winner, Scottie Scheffler.

FURTHER: Scottie Scheffler claims his third career major title.

Once Rahm concluded his speech, Scheffler had already secured his third major championship and first PGA Championship victory. All Rahm could focus on were the final standings. As he searched for his own name among those top positions displayed, it remained absent from the leaderboard.

"Still a raw wound at present," Rahm stated calmly about the disappointment he endured during the past couple of hours. Despite coming back from being five strokes behind to tie Scheffler for the lead, Rahm failed to take advantage of his birdie opportunities and ended up with bogey, double bogey, and another double bogey on the final three holes known as the Green Mile. This downfall resulted in a score of two-over par 73, causing him to drop to a tie for eighth place—seven strokes shy of Scheffler’s leading total.

When asked whether his difficulties were due to nerves or some other factor, Rahm provided a detailed account of why his drives have been slightly off. He explained that he has been attempting to reduce his typical fade at a course where draws tend to perform better. However, the 30-year-old player also stated frankly, "If anyone ever claims from this spot that nerves didn’t play a role, they’re definitely not telling the truth. Managing one’s thoughts is essentially what we professionals do in our sport."

He later stated, "I believe it was partly due to some nervousness. It’s hard to identify precisely at the moment. I will review what took place. I didn’t sense that I hurried through things. The procedure itself didn’t seem flawed."

While Scheffler found himself at two over par after scoring 37 on his first nine holes, Rahm appeared to be the most assured golfer on the field. On Saturday, he demonstrated his capability by securing a spot among the leaders with a score of 67. With former Major winners such as Bryson DeChambeau also in the mix, Rahm had the opportunity to make a strong push forward; however, being five strokes behind made catching up to the World Number One seem quite challenging.

However, starting his round with seven consecutive pars, Rahm then heated up, securing birdies at holes 8, 10, and 11. When Scheffler made a bogey at the ninth hole, the gap was closed, leaving them level.

"Wow, it's been quite some time since I enjoyed myself so much out on a golf course," Rahm remarked with a smile.

You understand your standing because, regardless of whether you choose not to check the leaderboard, the spectators make sure you’re aware," he explained. "Their enthusiasm ensures this happens, as they will inform you no matter what. For instance, when I sank my putt on hole number 12, simultaneously hearing applause from hole 10 indicated to me that Scottie had scored a birdie. You can sense these things after being in those situations numerous times.

Certainly, Scheffler's birdie on the par-5 10th hole returned the Texan to the top spot, and he maintained that position thereafter. Meanwhile, Rahm experienced a significant setback when his attempt for a birdie at the 13th rimmed out. Following this, issues with his putting and driving continued to challenge him severely. At holes 14 and 15, he failed to convert birdie opportunities from distances of nine and twelve feet respectively. On the 16th, he hit his drive poorly into a greenside bunker and ended up with a bogey. Then, at the par-3 17th, his tee shot rolled off the green and into the water hazard. Finally, on the 18th, he drove into the stream and ultimately finished with a score of six.

Jon Rahm throws his putter into the air after missing his putt at the 16th hole.

Scott Taetsch/PGA of America

"Yeah, those last three holes were really hard to take in," said Rahm, the 2021 U.S. Open champion and 2023 Masters victor, adding unprompted that this marked his first experience holding a lead going into the final round of a major championship but failing to seal the win.

As he reflected on his errors, Rahm aimed to highlight the positive aspects as well. After the 11-time PGA Tour champion departed for LIV Golf before the start of the 2024 season, he began to fade from the broader sports audience’s attention. In major tournaments, where he faced even tougher competition, his performance varied widely last year—he finished tied for 45th at the Masters, failed to make the cut at the PGA Championship, withdrew due to a toe injury during the U.S. Open, and placed seventh at The Open Championship. During his time in LIV, however, Rahm enjoyed a successful campaign, securing two victories.

During the Masters in April, Rahm frequently showed his frustration with a score of 75 in the opening round; however, he bounced back by scoring six under par for the remainder of the event and ended up tying for 14th place. This season on LIV, although Rahm hasn't secured a victory yet, he has managed to finish within the top 10 in all seven tournaments he has participated in.

"I’m genuinely delighted to have set myself up for this opportunity and hopefully gain some insight from it, so I can make another attempt at the U.S. Open," Rahm stated.

As his press conference drew to an end, Rahm checked his watch and pondered whether he could still make it back home in time to put his children to sleep. He then remembered a quote attributed to Charles Barkley: “I mean, I earn my living playing golf; it’s amazing,” Rahm remarked. “Do I feel slightly ashamed about how I ended today? Yes. However, I must overcome this disappointment, let go of my frustration. It isn’t the apocalypse. Unlike doctors or emergency responders, whose performance can directly impact lives severely when they have tough days, all I’ve got to do is pick myself up and continue forward.”

Russia Unleashes Biggest Drone Assault in War History Before Putin-Trump Meeting

On Sunday, Russia carried out its biggest drone assault on Ukraine since the conflict began, resulting in destroyed houses and the death of at least one woman. This occurred just a day before U.S. President Donald Trump was scheduled to talk with Russian leader Vladimir Putin about a potential ceasefire.

Ukraine's intelligence agency claimed that they thought Russia planned to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile later that same day as part of an effort to scare Western nations. However, Moscow had not yet responded to this allegation at the time.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, working to rebuild relations with Washington following a challenging meeting at the White House in February, had discussions with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Rome over the weekend during the events surrounding Pope Leo’s installation ceremony.

Zelensky described the encounter as "positive" and shared images of both Ukrainian and American officials seated outdoors around a circular table, all with smiles. According to local Ukrainian press reports, the discussion went on for approximately 40 minutes.

“I confirmed that Ukraine is prepared for genuine diplomatic engagement and emphasized the crucial need for an immediate and complete cease-fire without conditions,” stated Zelensky, who additionally had a meeting with the newly appointed pope.

Ukraine and Russia conducted their initial direct discussions in over three years on Friday, pressured by Trump to reach an agreement for a cessation of hostilities which he promised to swiftly conclude. Although they consented to exchange 1,000 detainees apiece, the parties did not manage to settle on a truce as Moscow put forth terms deemed unpalatable by a representative from Ukraine’s team.

Leaders from Britain, France, Germany, and Poland aimed to address Trump prior to the meeting between the U.S. and Russian presidents on Monday, as stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. These four European leaders made a collective trip to Kyiv recently and have urged Trump to support additional sanctions against Russia.

When asked whether it was time to implement stricter sanctions against Russia, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the decision rested with Trump.

"I think we will see what happens when both sides get to the table," he told NBC News' "Meet the Press" program.

President Trump has emphasized strongly that should President Putin fail to engage constructively in negotiations, the United States, alongside our European allies, will not shy away from increasing sanctions against Russia.

Following a night filled with air sirens, Ukraine’s air force reported that by 8 a.m. on Sunday, Russia had dispatched 273 unmanned aerial vehicles towards Ukrainian urban areas, surpassing the earlier high established by Moscow back in February during the conflict’s three-year mark.

At the remnants of her family house in the Obukhiv area located west of Kyiv, Natalia Piven, who is 44 years old, shared how she and her son hurriedly took cover in a basement following an air-raid alert, narrowly escaping harm when a series of drone attacks commenced.

They subsequently rushed to a bomb shelter located within a kindergarten as additional waves of drones approached the village. The family’s home was entirely demolished. Next door, a 28-year-old woman lost her life. According to Ukrainian officials, three others sustained injuries, among them being a four-year-old child.

"I can't seem to shake this off. I just can't. I distinctly heard the drone heading directly towards my home," Piven stated to Reuters.

Trump has shifted U.S. rhetoric from supporting Ukraine toward accepting some of Moscow's narrative about the war that Putin launched in 2022. But Kyiv and its European allies are working hard to persuade Trump that it is Moscow that is holding up a truce now.

Zelensky stated he would agree to Trump’s offer of a ceasefire lasting at least 30 days without any preconditions. However, Moscow indicated they might entertain a ceasefire if certain terms were fulfilled, such as ceasing weapons deliveries to Kyiv.

The agreement also states that all peace negotiations should tackle the “underlying issues” of the conflict. This includes addressing Russia’s conditions for Ukraine to surrender land, disarm, and adopt a neutral stance. However, Kyiv argues that complying with these terms would equate to giving up entirely and render it vulnerable without defenses.

Rising from the Ashes: Indie Studios Emerge as Industry Layoffs Surge

(Nexstar) - Multiple rounds of job cuts in the video game sector over several years have raised worries and uncertainties for numerous game creators. However, some are seizing this chance to develop titles they might not have been able to produce within conventional big-budget studios.

This is the tale of "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33," the inaugural title from the French studio Sandfall Interactive.

The game has been causing quite a stir with nearly perfect reviews. Metacritic User rating of 9.7 film adaptation Already underway, with many considering it a frontrunner for 2025. Game of the Year.

Since its launch in late April, the game has surpassed 3 million sales, with its soundtrack also making an impact. topped charts, and the development team even received one congratulatory message On Instagram from French President Emmanuel Macron.

Michael Douse, who leads Larian Studios—the developers behind this year’s Game of the Year award-winner Baldur’s Gate 3—stated in an interview post on X He believes it might hit 10 million in sales for this year and has an "outstanding opportunity" to win Game of the Year.

The primary visionary behind the game, director Guillaume Broche, abandoned his position at Ubisoft to create this title.

Broche claimed in an interview That a game such as "Expedition 33," which he conceived during his time "being bored at Ubisoft," required more than twenty years to receive approval from a major studio, and he mentioned that he "lacked that level of endurance."

Even with its stunning graphics and high level of refinement, "Expedition 33" was created by a group comprising roughly 30 individuals. according to Broche.

It isn’t the sole standout title from a smaller team in 2025. Despite leading Metacritic’s list for the best games of this year, the second position is occupied by an independent puzzle game. “Blue Prince,” a game primarily created by a single individual, developer Tonda Ros .

For a long time, it was believed that the AAA studio system along with substantial marketing resources was essential for creating a genuinely successful video game.

However, the achievements of "Expedition 33" and "Blue Prince" demonstrate that the system may not just be unnecessary but could potentially have a negative impact on the end result.

Longtime gaming content creator Maxamillian Christiansen , widely recognized by his alias "Maxamillian Dood," implies that Sandfall's reduced scale gave the studio more liberty to experiment with their ideas as they wished.

"It's becoming clear that in this industry, with so many people involved and numerous components at play, they are significantly hindering creativity," Christiansen stated during the discussion. recent livestream. They can implement their ideas with minimal criticism and reach their goals without being concerned about investors, deadlines, and similar issues.

Experts in the field concur that these achievements point towards an imminent transformation reshaping the realm of game creation.

"I believe we're currently experiencing a transitional phase within the industry," stated Jordan Dubreuil, an associate professor specializing in game development at the New England Institute of Technology.

When we see widespread job reductions and cutbacks throughout the gaming sector, these individuals are exceptionally innovative," Dubreuil commented. "Anyone in such positions who has access to tools like Godot, Unity, or even Unreal Engine can easily grasp one of these platforms and begin developing their own projects.

These emerging indie successes coincide with yet another series of layoffs at prominent AAA gaming studios. Major companies like titan publisher/developer Electronic Arts and "Apex Legends" creators Respawn Entertainment have also been affected. recently announcing The loss of numerous positions, along with Respawn stating they were discontinuing several ongoing initiatives.

One of those shelved projects was, based on what someone from within the sector has shared, The highly awaited "Titanfall 3," according to the source, featured a " playable version" at Respawn.

It's well short of the first major round of layoffs the sector has experienced in recent years. The trend kicked off in 2022 when the surge in home entertainment during the COVID-19 pandemic began to wane, leading to job cuts, such as those prominently reported at various companies. Bungie , Amazon Games , and Sony , among many others.

Since 2022, it is believed that more than 35,000 jobs have been excluded from the video game creation field.

"Out of the remnants of all these layoffs, we're likely to witness more innovative game development, with new studios emerging from this," Dubreuil stated.

Regardless of the duration of the development process, "Expedition 33" and "Blue Prince" demonstrate that achieving success in gaming does not solely rely on the AAA studio model.
